The dad jokes version of the JPG Newsletter: Do you love Paris? I Pompidou
William's writing this one - Jesus take the wheel.
Oui-haw, William here. Trent and MP are in Paris facilitating Value Flows, the first IRL exhibition the JPG community has co-curated together, so I’m holding down the fort on the newsletter this week 🤓
That’s the bad news, on account of all the silly Paris puns I’ve in store for you. But the good news? The whole team’s champing along on all the exhibition prep work so everything’s coming together in-Seine-ly well so far, I Musee. Stay tuned to our socials to see all the updates on the ground as they happen via MP over the coming days:
Speaking of big things this week, JPG also just hosted a Twitter Space with renowned conceptual artist Agnieszka Kurant and also maestros Ozan + Lukas from collector’s club 1of1. It was an amazing chat, and we’ll be posting a recap of the convo next week if you missed it. We talked Biggie Smalls’s crowns, Pokemon cards, Sentimentite, the Pompidou’s Kurant acquisition, certificates of authenticity, sweets as money in Argentina, and beyond.
Taking that discussion as inspiration, as much of Agnieszka Kurant’s work explores AI and the idea that creativity isn’t an individual endeavor, here I thought I’d commemorate the Parisian occasion by collaborating with ChatGPT to create a Triomphe-ant ode to JPG’s first exhibition in the City of Light:
“A gallery of crypto art beyond compare” … Holy crêpe, ChatGPT, that’s certainly what our community’s been aiming for with the decentralized curation of Value Flows, thank you ❤️
Anyways, something else notable we saw this week was the second round of projects voted into The Crypto Social Aesthetics canon (quick, say “NFT TCR” in your head 10x fast or you’ll be visited by the ghost of Kevin the Pixelmon tonight!). Nine projects made the cut in this newest batch of additions, including AnObject, Corruption(s*), Loot, and Wiiides. You can catch up on the +30 collections that made it in the inaugural round, too, by checking out this artisanal JPG Twitter thread, replete with almost double-digit tweets of social-centric digital eye candy.
You won’t like Kevin when he’s angry… he doesn’t give a Notre Dame when he loses it…
With those main updates out of the way, now let’s put a handful of choice tidbits on your radar because this is also sometimes an alpha newsletter if you didn’t know
