While it’s almost impossible to stay optimistic when looking at what’s going on with crypto, at JPG we have lots of things to be positive about. Our Berlin activities were a success - we loved NFTBerlin and enjoyed some IRL quality time together as a team, our Brandenburg offsite was really productive, helpful and fun, and now some of us are gonna head over to NYC. But first, some event photos from Berlin!
Some fun stuff happening around JPG that you can enjoy, join and hopefully bring you good vibes:
Online stuff:
Last week we hosted Godmin (Heaven Computer) and Deafbeef for a twitter spaces moderated by Sam and MP, it was truly a fantastic hour where we could learn how these artists think and approach their work, and get to know them better. Since the Twitter spaces only remain recorded for a month, William is creating an exhibition space with information about the two artists, some of their works, and quotes from the Spaces. Listen here
On Wednesday, June 15, for the opening of Mindy Seu’s WETWARE on Feral File, Sam will be interviewing participating artists Danielle Braithwhite-Shirley at 1:30pm EST, and Skawennati at 2pm EST on Twitter Spaces, while MP will follow at 2:30 PM EST with a conversation with Cornelia Sollfrank. Link to join here.
I had a chance to preview the artworks that will be shown and they’re quite incredible. Most importantly, collecting these artworks will support the artists, Feral File, and a percentage of sales will go towards the production of the publication CYBERFEMINISM INDEX.
On Thursday, June 16, at 1pm EST we’re hosting a new spaces on… things! With shl0ms, JIMMY, and Stardrop (everything I own). The spaces will be moderated by Trent. Join here.
IRL stuff:
We’re happy to announce we’re sponsoring and creating a Heaven Computer experience for the ODYSSEY event in Brooklyn. If you would like to come to the opening party, here’s the event link. The organisers will be curating an exhibition of works by Deafbeef and EDG, so we felt that creating an experience showing Heaven Computer’s God Observer was a perfect fit.
Also in Brooklyn, the TokenART unconference organised by Stevie P., Alex Supkay and Emily Edelman. JPG will be sponsoring the bar and installing a curated selection of Ghost Software, also by Godmin (AKA Heaven Computer). For this event, we’re working with collector and community mod Aubjectivity, who’s the proud owner of an incredible collection of these incredible artworks.
MP will be participating of a live performance of Culture Proof, the text based NFT performance alongside Nathaniel Stern, Scott Kildall and Malcolm Levy, during NFTNYC.
NYC week will be busy, but we’re always happy to meet up - so if you are around, shoot us a message, maybe we can make it work!
Finally, some more art because this week we need it:
Stevie P is dropping Maps of Nothing today on Artblocks and it’s a both super interesting and beautiful project
Yesterday, Feltzine released its new series, Gardens of Felt Zine Delights
e.a.t works returns with a series of Salons, the first of them featuring a participatory performance by Every Icon’s John F. Simon - Every Icon holders have priority so don’t miss it!
Recommended read is Web3 and The New Social Contract featuring conversation with Paolo Cirio and Max Haiven, hosted by Alex Esoterick, and Stephanie Dinkins x Harm van den Dorpel, both on Right Click Save
And about Harm, he’s about to airdorpel (I got that from one of the Discord chats, but its actually a free mint) NFTs - the free mint will be for the Markov’s Dreams and Mutant Garden Seeders holders that make the June 14 snapshot. Tweet with more info.
Mitchell Chan “leaked” to Red Lion News what his new project is about. We were lucky enough to get a demo in Berlin and the rumours are true, it’s fantastic.
That’s it for now - take care and stay healthy as much as possible <3
(more photos from our event below - we need the good vibes!)
