Virtual grass to prevent you from touching grass this weekend
God forbid we leave the comfort of our screens
Writing a quick newsletter to highlight things I liked this week, and that I think you might like too. Nice and simple as that.
The Grass is always greener on the blockchain side:
Sarah Zucker very quietly released a fantastic edition - and to mint, you just need to ask her nicely (via DM). I love this approach, Sarah always knows how to keep her audience close.
Keiken’s Wisdoms for Neknel has some beautiful artworks up in the Neknel Marketplace. I checked and there’s still some available (and I’m done buying mine). You can only purchase them by harvesting $WISDOM erc-20 through your Wisdom Vessels NFT. Learn more here.
Misha de Ridder also decided to go the grass route, and released Realness, another currency of the future, a free mint, that has.. utility :)
Feral File has a new show with some great pieces in it, curated by Femmebit, a very cool initiative. I like this one especially. I believe that now one can only collect via purchasing the whole set, which is not really accessible for most, so I’ll have to wait until something hits secondary.
Rhea did a fake ad for Zora Zine, minting is done but you can get some off secondary on Opensea.
MOCA’s fundraiser is finally here! And the proposal is super interesting, so mint a few and enjoy!
Gallery of Crypto Art’s a la Hic et Nuc experiment but with a nicer community, Zero One, is live. Had a lot of fun selling my creation and getting credits to collect from other people!
Reading list:
Some good old Memphis and NFTs that feel like Memphis:
I’m not sure if my audience knows what Memphis Milano/ Group was, I think you do. And if you do, the other day I found the house of artist Katherine Bernhardt in St. Louis Missouri on Instagram, and I think you need to see it. It made me feel bad and good at the same time. I could never live with so much color, but I appreciate the commitment to the (Italian) bit.
In case you now fell down a Memphis rabbit hole, here are some NFTs that make me think of Memphis. You could spend your money on 1st dibs and get a bookshelf, or you can do something truly wholesome, like continue buying internet pictures.
LoVid’s fab drop with Gemma (minting) - YES!!! Color Recall
Pilar Zeta’s very Memphis NFT artefacts (her whole work actually - she also has done music videos)
My highlight of the week:
oh my god as if I needed another excuse to go bother Trent in NYC.
Is it public art?
Is it a brand activation?
Is it MSCHF?
Is it an onchain summer corporate takeover?
is it everything I ever wanted? yes.
I love this thing that just popped in my feed. I’ve been admiring it for all 10 minutes, and feel huge FOMO. I didn’t care when Stepn popped up because it was on s*lana and I don’t care about other chains at all. Also, they are funny and I love the tone, and the guerrilla approach. I love also that it flirts with the fact that New Yorkers would NEVER do anything like this, but then you gotta do it if you’re there because it’s actually good art.
If someone reading is in NYC, would you mint me a bike? send me a QR code so I can join? If I wasn’t in the middle of making some empanadas for a weekend dinner I would have left my partner and dog and made my way to Trent’s couch (bear market, can’t pay for hotels in NYC) to enjoy the onchain offchain citibike summer.
Anyways, that’s it for now. There’s empanadas I need to make.
Til next week :)
